iFrames + Captyn

Overview

This article covers the best practices for using Captyn's pages with your customer base. Read on for some helpful tips on how to provide a secure and seamless experience for your customers.

Understanding iFrames

Generally speaking, an "iFrame (Inline Frame) is an element that loads another (separate) HTML element inside of a web page. They are commonly used to embed external ads, videos, tags, or other interactive elements into the page." ^

Captyn was designed specifically to be a standalone site that is linked to, which provides a white labeled experience for customers. We do this to avoid the potential issues with using iFrames outlined below. This means that trying to load your Captyn instance into an iFrame on your site is not recommended nor supported.

Potential Issues With iFrames + Captyn

If you are trying to load your Captyn instance into an iFrame on your site, captyn.com gets embedded into a different domain (your website). When this happens, the cookie (a tool designed to remember information about your user, including a record of your website visits and activity) is considered a “third-party cookie”, and the vast majority of browsers block these completely because they’re primarily used by advertisers. The evolution and security with browsers has eliminated most uses of iFrame and similar embedding.

Embedding your Captyn site within another domain (e.g. your organization's website) is not a supported use of Captyn.
